Just a stones throw from Dickinson Place, Allonby Beach is the jewel of the Cumbrian coast. Looking out to far reaching views of the Isle of Man and Scotland, the beach is ideal for leisurely walks, keeping children entertained and dogs walked very happily. And don’t forget the ice creams!

Having undergone significant development over the last few years, Maryport is not just our closet course (less than 4 miles away) but also a must-play or why not join. As well as Maryport Golf Club there is also the stunning links course at Sillloth on Solway, in the Top 100 Golf Courses in Britain & Ireland, but also Workington and Keswick Golf Courses. Each offer different challenges and well worth booking.

Our location offers walking routes for all. From coastal paths to beach walks, low level hills to the Lake District fells. There are plenty of child friendly and accessible routes too, many of which are from the doorstep of Dickinson Place and many just a short drive away. Allonby is also the start of the North West Cumbria section of the National Trail - England Coast Path.

You couldn’t be better located for cycling of all ages and abilities here. The Solway Coaster is a route from Maryport to the south to Silloth in the north giving you a chance to experience the beautiful Solway Coast on a designated cycleway. Head inland and hills await and mountain routes to explore too.

This a great attraction in nearby Maryport. Exciting new introductions include a lobster hatchery project and jellyfish breeding tank but for all ages, to admire the shark & ray pool, tropical marina reef, the ship wreck and the deep reef.

Head outside and they have a 14 hole mini golf course and nautical themed play park to keep children entertained all day.

A magnificent building, view and location and more to admire inside. Located next to a Roman fort that they say could have been founded in the first century AD but was rebuilt during Hadrian’s reign. The Roman military altar stones and inscription collection is the oldest in the country and which the Senhouse family begun in the 1570’s.

Whinlatter Forest near Keswick is only 15 miles away and provides a variety of walking and cycling adventures. Lots of forest trail paths for walking. For cycling, flat trails and a choice of mountain biking routes as well as a lovely café.

The Lakes Distillery is located close to Bassenthwaite Lake just 16 miles away. It is the home of The Cumbrian No. 5 single malt whisky. They now also distill Gin and Vodka. Experience distillery tours and tastings, visit the shop, or enjoy a meal in their Bistro.

Cockermouth is a Georgian market town just 9 miles away. Lots of independent shops, delis and antique shops, lovely bars, restaurants and inns too. There is also the National Trust Wordsworth House & Garden, William Wordsworth’s childhood home, right in the centre.

Cumbria’s only city and just 24 miles away. Lots of shops in the centre and large retail outlets on the edge of the city. it is also steeped in history with Carlisle Castle being a must visit along with the award winning Tullie House Museum. It also has 2 areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is a great place to explore the World Heritage Site of Hadrian’s Wall.

Keswick brings you to a full Lake District experience and a really easy, 24 mile drive across to there. With a Booths supermarket, endless outdoor gear shops, crafts and boutiques as well as places to eat. But also the Keswick area has walks galore as well as being on the edge of Derwentwater where the views of Skiddaw can be seen and where you can enjoy water sports and a trip down the lake on the Keswick Launch boat cruise.
